ISHS Acta Horticulturae 327: II European Workshop on Thermo- and Photomorphogenesis in Plants

EFFECTS OF UV TREATMENTS ON STEM GROWTH OF SOME GREENHOUSE CROPS

Authors:   B. Lercari, F. Bretzel, S. Piazza
Keywords:   ageratum, marigold, petunia, tomato, growth-control
Abstract:
UV treatments, lasting between 48 and 96 hours, given to plug seedlings significantly reduced stem length in tomato, petunia and marigold. The same treatments were ineffective in ageratum. The UV treatments, 50 μmol m-2 s-1, were more effective than white, 500 μmol m-2 s-1, and red, 20 μmol m-2 s-1, light treatments.
