Abstract:
Crinum americanum L. is a semi-aquatic bulb poorly suited for the general garden.
However, interspecific hybrids of C. americanum can be attractive plants with ornamental value.
During a six-year breeding study, 14 hybrids of C. americanum were obtained; 11 of these hybrids have not been reported previously.
Only 2.3% of cross pollinations yielded viable hybrid seed when C. americanum was the seed parent.
