ISHS Acta Horticulturae 325: VI International Symposium on Flower Bulbs

IN VITRO CULTURE OF EXPLANTS EXCISED FROM GROWING STEMS OF TULIP (TULIPA GESNERIANA L.) : PROBLEMS RELATED TO BUD AND BULBLET FORMATION.

Authors:   M. LE NARD, Fl. CHANTELOUBE
Abstract:
Stem explants (discs) excised from growing tulip plants were able to produce adventitious buds and bulblets in vitro. The results were however, genotype dependent. In the case of responsive genotypes, the number of adventitious buds was affected by the origin of the explants. The bulblets produced in vitro show various sizes and characteristics, e. g., the presence or absence of a tunic. Their survival rate was variable.
