ISHS Acta Horticulturae 325: VI International Symposium on Flower Bulbs

ALSTROEMERIA RESPONSE TO DIFFERENT SHADING LEVELS

Authors:   G.V. Zizzo, M. De Vita, C. Cervelli
Abstract:
The effect of different levels of shading (0–50–70%) on two cultivars of Alstroemeria (Regina and Rosario) grown in the open field were evaluated. Shading increased flower stem length, but had no effect on the number of flowers per plant. Seventy percent shading extended the flowering season. Data obtained after one year after the of planting showed that plants under high shading levels had higher branching than those with low shading.
