ISHS Acta Horticulturae 323: Symposium on Soil and Soilless Media under Protected Cultivation in Mild Winter Climates

THE EFFECT OF THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DAY AND NIGHT TEMPERATURE (DIF) ON TRANSPIRATION RATE OF SOME VEGETABLE CROPS GROWN IN ROCKWOOL

Authors:   A.F. Abou-Hadid, A.S. El-Beltagy, M.A. Medany
Abstract:
The experiment was conducted in Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center. One greenhouse with two compartments was used. One of them was cooled for 2 h after dawn to be used as minus DIF treatment and the other was used as a control. Transpiration rate and stomatal conductance of cucumber, pepper and tomato were determined. Photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and relative humidity were also determined. Data were discussed in relation to the prevailing microclimatic conditions.
