EFFECT OF DIFFERENT WATER REGIMES ON FRUIT QUALITY OF POMEGRANATE (PUNICA GRANATUM L.)

Authors:   B.T. Lawand, V.K. Patil, P.V. Patil
Abstract:
Four IW/CPE ratios and four deviations in IW/CPE ratio were tried in Maskat pomegranate. Highest TSS was recorded under 0.4 IW/CPE ratio which was decreased to 0.2 during November-December while lower TSS was recorded under 1.0 IW/CPE ratio which was increased to 1.2 during flowering (January-February) and fruit development. Higher juice content and lower acidity were recorded under 1.0 IW/CPE ratio which was increased to 1.2 during flowering and fruit development. More vitamin C, reducing sugar and total sugar were observed under 0.8 IW/CPE ratio which was increased to 1.0 during flowering and fruit development and decreased to 0.6 during November-December. Lower vitamin C, reducing sugar and total sugar were recorded under lower and higher water regimes.
