Abstract:
The effect of water availability on the growth and physiological processes was carried out to understand the changes in growth and physiological processes of young Averrhoa carambola plant.
Leaf, stem and root growth were significantly reduced with the reduction of water availability.
Leaf photosynthesis rate was only reduced when the water potential fell below -0.85 MPa.
Stomatal conductance, respiration rate and chlorophyll content were only affected after 7 days of witholding water.
Plants are still photosynthesizing 14 days of witholding water which indicated that growth could resume if water is applied.
