RESEARCH AND POTENTIAL OF SOME BRAZILIAN TROPICAL FRUITS

Abstract:
The present knowledgement and potential of some brazilian species: Spondia tuberosa (Anacardeaceae); Annona coriacea, R. mucosa (Annonaceae); Bertholletia excelsa (Lecythidaceae); Myrciaria cauliflora, Eugenia stipitata, Psidium acutangulum, Eugenia tomentosa, Myrciaria dubia, Eugenia uvalha, E. dysentherica (Myrtaceae); Talisia sculenta (Sapindaceae); Pouteria cainito (Sapotaceae), Caryocar brasiliensis (Cariocaraceae), Platonia insignis, Mamea americana (Gutiferae); Hancornia speciosa, Parahancornia amapa (Apocynaceae); Byrsonima crassifolia (Malpighiaceae) Pachira aquatica, Matisia cordata (Bombacaceae) Pouroma cecropiaefolia (Moraceae) and Theobroma grandiflorum (Sterculiaceae) were discussed. Some of them were introduced in Sao Paulo and evaluated. Others were commented based on the information and visits to the places of the origin of the species.
