Abstract:
Plant growth regulators (GA3, Daminozide, and Mepiquat chloride) and various foliar fertilizers (KNO3, 0–52–34, and MultigoldR) were applied to durian trees at the first sign of leaf bud emergence.
The development of leaf buds was retarded for 3 weeks after the application of daminozide and mepiquat chloride at the concentration of 2,500 ppm.
KNO3 and high concentration of certain foliar fertilizer (0–52–34) damaged bud scales and delayed the new set of leaf flushing for 2 weeks.
On the other hand, GA3 and foliar application of MultigoldR promoted leaf bud development.
Not only affecting leaf flushing, KNO3, 0–52–34, and MultigoldR also increased fruit number per tree by 47 to 143 % with the normal fruit size and quality compared to those of the control.
