THE EFFECTS OF INDOLE ACETIC ACID (IAA), INDOLE BUTYRIC ACID (IBA) AND NAPHTHALENE ACETIC ACID (NAA) ON THE GROWTH OF TAAGHIYAAT DATE PALM (PHOENIX DACTYLIFERA L.)

Authors:   M.H. El Hodairi, A.A. Amer, A.S. El Fagih
Abstract:
The experiment was carried out at the Sebha Green Stripe Project, on Taaghiyaat variety of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) off-shoot. The growth regulators, IAA IBA, NAA at 50 ppm and 100 ppm and distilled water as the control were injected at the root initiation sites. After a year of treatment, the results of this experiment indicated that, this variety responded to NAA better than the other treatments. NAA significantly increased the number, length and dry weight of root hairs, small roots and large roots. The diameter of large roots was slightly increased by NAA. However, all these parameters were relatively inhibited by IBA.
