YIELD TRIAL OF COMMERCIAL VARIETIES AND SELECTED CLONES OF CASHEW

Authors:   P. Anupunt, U. Nopkoonwong
Abstract:
Yield trial of recommended varieties released by Thai DOA (Department of Agriculture), SK 60–1, SK-1 and SK-A (composite seed variety) compared with Sirichai 25 (released by private sector), Mah Boon Krong (Sirichai 25 seed's progeny) and local variety were conducted in 1987. Nut weight production at four years of age from 4 experimental sites showed that SK 60–1 has the highest total nut weight (4.42 kg/tree), which was 75% greater than Sirichai 25. Kernel size of all varieties was classed as grade 3, except for two varieties, Sirichai 25 and local variety, were grade 2 and 4 respectively. Seeds of SK 60–1 and SK 60–2 have high sunken percentage (greater than 70%) compared to that of the local variety (lower than 54%).
