ISHS Acta Horticulturae 319: International Symposium on Transplant Production Systems

OPTIMAL ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION FOR CARNATION CULTIVATED IN NURSERY PLANTS SYSTEM

Authors:   H. Nishina, M. Miyoshi, Y. Hashimoto
Abstract:
For effective production of nursery plants, investigation of optimal environmental condition for growth of nursery plants is necessary.

In this study, nursery plants growth systems were constructed. Using the nursery plants growth systems, growth experiments of nursery plants of carnation were carried out under various environmental conditions in order to investigate growth characteristic of nursery plants.

Relative growth rate (RGR) for various environmental conditions was calculated using the results of the growth experiments. Furthermore, growth of nursery plants was calculated according to the relative growth rate. As the results, it was made clear that growth of nursery plants could be expressed by means of relative growth rate.
