ISHS Acta Horticulturae 319: International Symposium on Transplant Production Systems

ARE STRAWBERRY PLANTLETS ARISING FROM ADVENTITOUS STIPULE BUDS ALSO TRUE TO TYPE?

Authors:   A. Jemmali, J.M. Kinet
Keywords:   Adventitious shoots, Axillary shoots, Proliferation rate, Genetic stability
Abstract:
Adventitious buds arise between the two leaf stipule points of strawberry plantlets having different numbers of subculture.

When these adventitious shoots are into contact with a normal strawberry culture medium, they proliferate fastly by axillary branching.

The performances of the plants regenerated from stipular shoots are similar to the control ones concerning DNA ratio, vegetative and generative behaviour.

Cloning of true stipular buds and true axillary buds, are now in progress.
