Abstract:
In Slovenia which covers the surface of 20 256 km2 there are 6 phytogeographical regions, the Alpine, the Sub alpine, the Sub pannonian, the Dinaric, the Sub dinaric and the Sub mediterranean which coincide with different climatic conditions.
The warmest climate can be found in the Mediterranean region with the yearly sum of temperatures amounting from 3800 to 5000 °C and 800 to 2000 mm of precipitation.
In the Pannonian climatic conditions the yearly temperatures come from 3300 to 3800 C and the precipitation 700 to 1350 mm.
In the Alpine climatic conditions the yearly temperatures are 2800 to 3300 °C and the precipitations are 1500 to 2800 mm.
In this paper 218 wild plant species and 41 fungi species are mentioned.
The most important families from which the plants are used as vegetables are the following: Asteraceae (32), Rosaceae (26), Brassicaceae (19), Apiaceae (16). For all the species location, collecting time, kind of use, C vitamin content and carotene in mg/100 g are presented.
