Abstract:
At the 23rd International Horticultural Congress, held in Florence, Italy, in August, 1990, there were 493 papers and/or posters concerned with research in fruit crops.
Seventy-one of these dealt with breeding and genetics.
Some of these are being published in other volumes of Acta Horticulturae dealing with peach, strawberry and in vitro culture, respectively.
Many of the reminder are in this volume of Acta.
These will be of use to fruit breeders as well as pomologists concerned with the various commodities.
I would like thank all who helped me prepare this volume of Acta and epecially Dr.
Fred Hough, who edited many of the contributions for clarity of presentation.
I also thank the secretariat of the International Society for Horticultural Science for generous support.
