EFFECT OF SOIL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS ON HILLISIDE PEACH ORCHARDS |

| Abstract:
Peach trees were planted in five different soil management systems (Clean cultivation, Herbicide Paraquat, Mowed sod, Grass with Clean cultivation on the row, Grass with Clean cultivation between the rows) in a field with a 23% gradient, levelled, ripped and cultivated before planting. The purpose of the trial was to identify the best management system for preventing soil erosion, and to verify, the growth and yield responses of peach trees. This paper refers to this second objective. Tree growth, yield and fruit traits were better when trees were managed in a "Herbicide sod system" or in "clean cultivation". The "mowed sod soil" system induced less growth than the others due to weeds competition. | |
