Abstract:
In the micropropagation of Metrosideros spp. rejuvenation occurs under in vitro conditions.
After deflasking, the return to maturity is slow and flowering occurs after two or three years.
The treatments of foliar application of paclobutrazol and uniconazole, and drenching in sea water, resulted in an acceleration by one year of the phase change from juvenile to mature forms.
The cultural conditions of a warm greenhouse and a small pot size, could have contributed to this change.
