Abstract:
The effects of mineral nutrition, sucrose supply and light intensity during in vitro culture on photosyntheis and subsequent acclimatization of Lechenaultia formosa was investigated.
Plants were capable of some photosynthesis at the time of transfer out of culture if given adequate light but their survival still depended on the supply of sucrose during the in vitro period.
It is not clear whether the inadquate rate of photosynthesis is due entirely to prevailing environmental conditions or partly to physiological limitations.
