ISHS Acta Horticulturae 312: European Seminar New Technologies for the Rational Use of Energy in Greenhouse Horticulture in Northern Europe

CROP ENVIRONMENTS

Author:   K.E. Cockshull
Abstract:
The aerial environment within a greenhouse is modified by any change to insulation and these modifications may have adverse effects on crop production and product quality. In general, increased insulation is associated with increased light loss, humidity and temperature and the probable effects of these changes are discussed in relation to the tomato crop. The conclusions lead to suggestions for how energy might be used more rationally in greenhouse production in Northern Europe.
