ISHS Acta Horticulturae 312: European Seminar New Technologies for the Rational Use of Energy in Greenhouse Horticulture in Northern Europe

HEAT/POWER TECHNOLOGY - THE SUCCESSFORMULA.

Abstract:
In the entire world the use of energy is still growing yearly. for the time being no change will take place. Especially the growth of the use of energy to be expected in the third world will be enormous during the coming decennium. Owing to this growth of the use of energy there are two aspects which are of great importance i.e. the limitation of the fossil sources on one hand and the pollution of the environment on the other.

Taking into consideration the expected growth, the reserves of the world of natural gas will be sufficient for approximately another 50 years, oil for another 100 years and local coal for another 500 years.

The limitation of these fossil energycarriers, but most of all the, during the combustion generated emission of polluting components, makes a more considerate use of energy based on combustion technology a necessaty. Seeing that an unpolluted environment is our first aim a cogeneration installation can contribute to the same.
