Abstract:
The influence of the phenological state and the nutritive requirements of shoot buds, taken from old-field-grown walnut trees (Juglans regia L.), on the in vitro survival of the explants has been studied.
Bud developmental states comprised between the sprouting initiation (Cf) and the flowering beginning (Ef) are responsible to in vitro culture.
Explants were cultured in DKW, MS and modified MS media.
Bud size increasing together with the sprouting of the first leaves were only observed when buds in Df or Df2 states were cultured in the modified MS medium.
