POSSIBILITIES OF ORTHONIL ON ORNAMENTAL PLANTS |

| Abstract:
Orthonil is the common name proposed by the Belgian firm, s.a. P R B n.v., Avenue de Broqueville, 12, 1150 Brussels. Chemically it is 2(  chlor-cyano-ethyl)-6-chlorotoluene.
It is of a low order of toxicity, the acute oral LD 50 for female rats being 1010 mg/kg.
The no-effect level has been proved to be superior to 100 mg/kg/day.
The residues found on different crops at harvest time were most of the time inferior to 0.01 ppm.
Its use is indicated on a range of crops including fruittrees, beets, potatoes, mais, leek, carrots, beans, tomatoes and flowers. | |
