| Abstract:
The fairy ring spot caused by the fungus Heterosporium echinulatum is one of the most limiting diseases of miniature carnation in Colombia. An experiment was carried out in 1989 to evaluate the control of the disease with the application of four fungicides with the very susceptible variety Sam's Pride in a commercial greenhouse. Two protectant fungicides Dichlofluanid and Propineb and two systemic fungicides Penconazol and Triforine were applied eight times at weekly intervals. A lower number of lesions was obtained with the application of the protectant fungicides, Propineb being the most effective. All fungicides used affected spores on the lesions, but spore germination was more affected by systemic fungicides specially Triforine. Postharvest observations of stems, leaves and flowers, did not show significant differences between treatments. | |
