BIOSYNTHESIS OF TROPANE ALKALOIDS: THE INFLUENCE OF PRECURSORS TO INTACT PLANTS AND TISSUE CULTURS

Author:   G. PETRI
Abstract:
Tropane alkaloids are relatively simple structures and they are present in Plant-kingdom not in large variety. The most common family which is characterised with this type of alkaloids is the Solanaceae family. As it is known some genus have other alkaloids beside them (e.g.Duboisia, Nicotiana, etc).

Tropane alkaloids are typical products of Datura innoxia Mill. We have studied their biosynthetic pathway and transformation processes with labelled precursors and with other nonmarked compounds in 8 weak old plants and during the germination in very young states of seedlings as well as in different tissue cultures influenced by hormones or precursors. The aim of our woork was to follow and take more clear the steps of the biosynthesis for later on influencing them.
