FIXED OIL FROM ST. JOHN'S WORT SEEDS (HYPERICUM PERFORATUM L.) |

| Abstract:
After a great number of analysis on the basis of extraction with light petroleum (40–60 °C) in Soxhlet apparatus, the value of 30 % fatty oil of seeds was obtained. The unsaponifiable matter of fatty oil was 2.6 %. Considering the insolubility in commonly used solvents the direct extraction from powdered seeds by Rexane and methanolic potassium hydroxide was performed. Eight fatty acids were identified. The extraction of total lipids from seeds was by fast dry method on the Celite-545 column. 36 % fatty oil was obtained by this procedure. These fatty acids were identified and their percentage determined. | |
