HEAVY METAL CONTENT IN MEDICINAL AND SPICE PLANTS CULTIVATED IN YUGOSLAVIA

Authors:   R. Šovljanski, S. Lazic, V. Macko, S. Obradovic
Abstract:
During the last years we determinated by AAS methods the Mn, Zn, Cu, Pb and Cd contents in camomile flowers, thymi leaves, origano herbs, hyssopi leaves and flowers, which were treated by different herbicides during the vegetations.

The plants were grown under controlled conditions in the Department for Medicinal Plants, Backi Petrovac and in Istria. The heavy metal contents of medicinal plants depend on the plant species, climatic factors, air pollution and other environmental factors. The application of herbicides investigated had some influence on the heavy metal contents in plants studied.
