Abstract:
In Turkey there grow 25 Colchicum and 4 Merendera species wildly.
Only some of them have been studied for the alkaloid content and other compounds.
The study summarizes the results obtained by phytochemical investigation of seven species of the genus Colchicum and three species of the genus Merendera collected in various vegetation periods.
The content of alkaloids in individual parts of these plants was determined by HPLC and the separated compounds are subsequently identified by spectroscopic methods.
The chemotaxonomic features of alkaloids and aromatic acids are discussed.
