MICROMORPHOLOGICAL STUDIES ON ACTINIDIA CV. HAYWARD CALLI AS INFLUENCED BY DIFFERENT CARBOHYDRATES

Authors:   A.R. Leva, G. Bartolini, R. Muleo, S. Biricolti, A. Benelli
Abstract:
Callus growth behaviour has been evaluated by thin sections microscopically and it has been also recorded the regenerative capacity in kiwifruit cv. Hayward as influenced by sucrose, glucose, 3-0-methylglucose (MeG) at different concentrations and combinations. High levels of sucrose and glucose induced accumulation of polyphenols in the cells reducing differentiation activity. MeG strongly affected glucose as to cell morphology and shoot regeneration when in the medium with glucose, compared to glucose alone.
