Abstract:
Anthers of Fragaria x ananassa, cultivar Pajaro, were cultured in vitro at the stage immediately before the first haploid mitosis.
Callus induction was obtained on both solid and liquid media (Gresshoff and Doy n. 1) with 23 uM Kinetin concentration.
The regeneration was almost exclusively obtained from the callus produced in the solid medium.
Cytological analysis was performed on root tips of greenhouse cultivated plants in order to check ploidy level.
At this writing no haploids have been found.
The regenerated plantlets showed different phenotypes from the original cultivar.
This variability could be of interest in the breeding program.
