Abstract:
It has been found in Nicotiana tabacum var.
BEL W3 cultured in vitro that plant regeneration capacity showed a strong increase in the number of regenerates followed by a decrease of these when explants were excised from shoots formed from a callus obtained from previously regenerated plantlets during subsequent subcultures.
Moreover, this phenomenon has been studied using explants collected from stem, stalk and leaf.
Differences in the in vitro response among these three types of explants have been observed for the plantlet regeneration frequency and for the moment in which the regenerative potentially decreased.
