Abstract:
Rhizome segments prepared from mature plants of Nephrolepis, Asplenium, Pteris, Adiantum and Rumohra (Arachniodes) were cultured on modified Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with benzyladenine (BA). They produced a green, globular tissue, named "Green globular bodies (GGB)". The GGB of each fernproliferated on BA containing medium, although the efficiency of multiplication differed among species.
GGB segments rapidly regenerated plantlets when they were subcultured on BA-free medium.
