Abstract:
Pyrus calleryana sel.
D6, an important Nashi rootstock, has recently received a fair interest from Italian fruit growers.
The possibility to micropropagate it on a commercial scale was investigated.
In vitro proliferation rate of shoots was rather high (X 2 – 2,5 every 25 days) on MS medium with 1 mg/1 BAP. Rooting was enhanced by reducing MS macro-elements to half strength, while the addition of phloroglucinol at 8 different doses had no effect.
Medium size, compared to short and long microcuttings recorded a maximum of in vitro rooting (90%) and the highest survival (61,5%) during acclimatization in greenhouse.
