Abstract:
The Associaçæo Portuguesa de Horticultura e Fruticultura (APHF) was formed to promote the progress of horticulture by organizing meetings, editing specific publications, cooperating with developmental projects; to establish relationships with other horticultural organizations; to cooperate with growers organizations and governmental offices for the development of horticulture; to give specific prizes and honors; and to stimulate the exchange of scientific information and to develop professional relationships among the members.
APHF is divided into three sections: fruticulture, ornamentals, and vegetables.
It is open to all people interested in horticulture and has several types of members, individual, affiliated and patron.
APHF publishes a Newsletter four times a year.
APHF promotes the following activities: 1) conferences, symposia and other scientific and technical meetings, 2) professional trips in Portugal and abroad, and 3) exhibitions of plants and technical equipment.
APHF promotes international exchanges of information and people, has official relationships with research institutions, private industry, growers associations and national government.
APHF may sometimes participate in governmental commissions for horticulture policy making.
