Abstract:
In a field trial, spray programmes using the insect growth regulator, fenoxycarb (Insegar) or organophosphate insecticides (azinphos-methyl (Gusathion)/phosmet (Imidan)), were compared to control greedy scale (Hemiberlesia rapax) on kiwifruit.
Applications of fenoxycarb for all or part of the season reduced infestation and increased the mortality of scale on leaves.
Fruit infestation by scale was also reduced, but not to commercially acceptable levels.
