Abstract:
The diphenylurea-derivative CPPU was tested for three years (1988–1990) on ‘Hayward’ kiwifruit vines (Actinidia deliciosa Liang et Ferguson) to stimulate fruit growth and weight.
The parameters evaluated were concentration (10–40 ppm), time of application (7–14 days after full bloom) and effects of CPPU on both open- and hand-pollinated vines, all having the same bud load.
The compound increased fruit growth and weight in all treatments.
CPPU influence was not affected by pollination type or bud load.
All the tested concentrations and application dates proved effective.
Generally the best results were found with 20 ppm applied 14 days after full bloom.
