Abstract:
Hydrogen cyanamide applied in late July/early August to the same vines for five seasons increased export yields between 12.1 and 62.5% per season.
Treated vines carried loads up to 170 kg and seasonal differences had a greater influence on subsequent flowering than previous crop load.
CPPU applied as a single spray (5 μg/ml) to fruitlets at 2 weeks after fruit set increased mean fruit size by 20% at harvest.
Soil applications of paclobutrazol at 3 g/vine increased fruit size by 7% in the season of treatment but had no subsequent effect.
