Abstract:
There are about 57 species within genus Actinidia in China. Some have economic potential and the best of these are A. chinensis and A. deliciosa, which exists in the wild and show great variation in many characters. It is possible to obtain good strains directly from wild populations and by using this approach some new varieties have been selected and planted. Many wild plants have also been used as rootstocks and some species or natural hybrids have proved desirable. Different hybrids have been produced through controlled crosses.
