ISHS Acta Horticulturae 297: II International Symposium on Kiwifruit

THE EFFECT OF COLLECTION TIME ON ROOT DEVELOPMENT ON KIWIFRUIT HARDWOOD CUTTINGS IN NORTHERN IRAN

Authors:   F. Anvari, Y. Ebrahimi, Y.M. Alian
Keywords:   greenhouse conditions, callus, female cultivars, male cultivars
Abstract:
New Zealand is the leading producer of kiwifruit in the world. This nutritious fruit was introduced into Iran, by Y. Ebrahimi, to replace the citrus fruits in Northern Iran.

The time when hardwood cuttings are collected has a significant effect on root formation. An experiment was carried out at the Ramsar Citrus and Kiwifruit Experimental Station. The result confirmed that hardwood cuttings of kiwifruit that were collected between January and February in Northern Iran gave the best root development.
