Abstract:
Preliminary studies have been undertaken with the perspective of selecting ‘Hayward’ mutants that have a stable genetic makeup.
A satisfactory micropropagation method using neoformation from stem segments or petioles has been established.
This was followed by exposing segments, at different stages of neoformation ontogenesis, to increasing doses of gamma rays.
Regular measurements of the induced physiological effects have allowed estimation of the radiosensitivity of this material under our conditions of in vitro culture and irradiation treatment.
