| Abstract:
Embryo and endosperm development was studied in seed from two interspecific crosses. Although some incompatibility was evident, it was possible to produce viable hybrids between A. deliciosa and A. eriantha and between A. deliciosa and A. arguta. Normal seedlings were produced from embryos of normal appearance and malformed seedlings without roots were produced from embryos of abnormal appearance. The initiation of adventitious buds was induced in the hypocotyl. These results may be useful in plant breeding programmes. | |
