IMPLEMENTATION PROBLEMS OF COMPUTER-BASED PLANNING MODELS IN HORTICULTURAL FIRMS

Author:   S. Gollwitzer
Abstract:
In this paper the problems related to the introduction of computer-based planning systems into horticultural firms are discussed.

The empirical study focuses on the characteristics of the user, of the planning system, of the task and of the orgnizational environment which are regarded as important factors for user acceptance and implementation outcome. Based on a problem-oriented framework empirical data were collected in case studies and a questionnaire in horticultural firms. The empirical findings lead to the tentative conclusion that user acceptance mainly depends on how the planning system matches the needs of the individual user and the task as well as the organizational conditions and the user support during the introduction process.
