Abstract:
A disease characterized by the presence of reddish-purple or purple -brown spots and rings on the fruits is described.
The disease was not found in other Apricots orchards of the southern part of the Italy except for that present in Pontecagnano area (Salerno province).
Occasional isolation of Apple Chlorotic Leaf Spot Virus (CLSV) and rarely of Prunus Necrotic Ringspot Virus (PNRV) was obtained on herbaceous hosts.
The viruses were identified making use of antisera against CLSV and PNRV and ISEM techniques.
The disease seems similar to the Apricot ring pox described in U.S.A.
