Abstract:
The population on apricot leaves of three phytopathogenic species of Pseudomonas were monitored after the trees were inoculated in the field by spraying a bacterial suspension twice at the begining of spring.
These bacteria, all found in association with bacterial canker of apricot in France, established an epiphytic population that persisted throughout the growing season (April to November) without disease symptom development, except some leaf spot damage in May.
This population could provide an important source of inoculum for disease development in winter or early spring the following year under the appropriate environmental conditions.
