Abstract:
The effect of St.
Julien A (SJ), Green Gage (GG), Wangenheims Frühzwetsche (WF), Kohlstockzwetsche (KZ), Cacanski Secer (CŠ) and Cacanska Lepotica (CL) interstocks on the vigour, vitality, bearing, flowering and ripening time, fruit size and quality (soluble solids and pH) of early apricot cvs Kishinevskaya Rannyaya (KR), Melitopolskii Rannii (MR) and Frühmarille aus Kittsee (FK) was studied in 1984–1989.
In 3-year trials on cropping and fruit quality, SJ and CL gave the best results and are therefore recommended for commercial utilization.
The performance of the remaining interstocks was poorer with regard to vitality, coming into bearing, productivity, fruit size and quality.
The highest tree survival rate was recorded in KR (86.8%) and the lowest in MR (81.0%).
The highest percentage of dieback was found on GG and the lowest on CŠ interstocks.
The highest yields were obtained from MR on SJ (50 tonnes/ha for the 3-year period) and the lowest from MR on GG (7.5 t/ha).
