Abstract:
The climatic conditions present in the S.R. of Romania during the years 1983, 1985 and 1987 were not favourable to apricot yields, significant losses of flower-buds occurring.
In 1983 positive temperatures (+16°C on February 11) alternated with negative ones (- 8°C and - 16°C on February 16 and 18, respectively).
Particular meteorological phenomena such as crystaline hoar-frost and ice on branches, correlated with permanently negative temperatures manifested in January 1987, followed by three warm periods above the biological threshold, during February-March.
The losses caused to flower-buds were higher in 1983 and 1987. The resistance of the Romanian varieties: Neptun, Rosii de Baneasa, Excelsior, Comandor, Favorit, Sulina, Selena, Callatis, Olimp, Litoral, was the utmost criterion for their using in the production orchards.
The studies on isozymic ranges demonstrated the resistance of peroxidase and susceptibility of dehydrogenase malate to cold.
