| Abstract:
In the Agean region of Turkey, some of the native apricot cultivars do not crop regularly. One of them is Tokaloglu cv. An experiment on the fertilization of the flowers of Tokaloglu has been established. According to our findings, the reason of unfruitfulness in Tokaloglu-cv. is self-incompatibility and it appears to be because of the incapability of the pollen tubes to penetrate into the ovules. Moreover, lower temperature exerts an important effect on the fertilization mechanism of Tokaloglu apricot by stimulating the growth rate of the pollen tube even in the cross pollinated combinations. | |
