ISHS Acta Horticulturae 291: III International Mango Symposium

PROMOTION OF REGULAR FRUIT CROPPING IN MANGO WITH CULTAR*

Authors:   G.R. Hillier, T.G. Rudge
Abstract:
In tropical climates where post-flowering temperatures are conducive to good fruit filling conditions, Cultar has been used to generate out-of-season Mango crops.

In Australia where winter temperatures are less well suited to good fruit growth or where temperatures at that time of the year could reduce pollination prospects, Cultar is being used primarily as a fruit quality enhancer and as a means of generating regular cropping while only slightly extending the fruit production period at the beginning of the season.

Latitudinal differences between Darwin and the north coast of New South Wales provide a range of different grower management needs and Cultar will find different roles in each of the major mango growing areas.
