Abstract:
A study on levels of gibberellin-like substances during vegetative growth and flowering of three-year-old Khiew Sawoey mango trees was conducted during the period August 1988 to June 1989. It was shown that the level of gibberellin-like substances was higher in the non-flowering trees.
Gibberellin levels decreased as trees approached flowering time, and were not detectable in the period six weeks before flowering up to flowering.
It is therefore, concluded that flowering of Khiew Sawoey mango is related to the reduced levels of gibberellins in the shoots.
