Abstract:
Cashew morphogenetic capacities were screened through explants prelevated from cotyledons, leaves and petioles.
Callus formation was obtained from leave and petiole explants when different levels of NAA/BAP or 2-4D/BAP were combined on MS modified medium.
Adventitious and secondary roots induction occured only when NAA was present.
Induction of embryolds from somatic cells was observed after a 12-month subculture on the adaxial face of cotyledonary explant on SH medium supplemented with NAA/BAP (3/0.8 mg 1-1). Moreover a morphogenetic gradient along the cotyledons was noted.
On these explants, an increase of NAA (6 mg 1-1) and BAP (1 mg 1-1) rate induced adventitious root formation after a 3-month subculture.
