HETEROTIC EFFECTS OF SOMATIC EMBRYOGENESIS AND CALLOGENESIS IN SOME HYBRIDS OF MAIZE (ZEA MAYS L.) IN VITRO

Author:   R. Pavlina
Keywords:   tissue culture, embryo-culture, Zea mays L., maize
Abstract:
Effect of parental genotypic combination was studied for phenotypic expression of callogenesis and somatic embryogenesis in their progeny. A conciderable dependency of bouth traits on parental lines was observed. Some hybride combinations exhibited heterozis, some negative heterosis and several crosses expressed heterobeltiozis, along with maternal effect of line A188 in all hybrid combinations for trait somatic embryogenesis.
